The Changes/The Colour @ Pianos 20-March-2007| and The Changes/The Metric Mile/Manhattan Loves Suicide/Real Ones @ Union Hall 21-March-2007

So I met this band The Changes in a Mexican restaurant during CMJ ’06…and needless to say they left an impression, both personally, and musically. I would say I loved their set at Pianos on Tuesday, but Pop Tarts Suck Toasted and The Underrated Blog both did amazing job. As for The Colour, I walked some friends out after The Changes and could barely fit in the door. I feel that they have to diverse a sound to compare to anything and not sound like an asshole or an elitist…but I would say that if you want to think of a sound…The Colour sound like the bastard child of sweet innocent 60’s pop & the harder side of late 90’s alternative rock. Sadly I left before they finished their set do to a prior commitment….

So the following day I headed over to my new favourite Brooklyn based bar…Union Hall, to see The Changes play and enjoy their humor and talk about nonsense with them like we were bestest friends for ages and ages.

I arrived in the midst of The Metric Mile playing, and don’t know much about the band, and I didn’t spend much time watching, but plenty of time listening. They became the soundtrack to my life at that moment. Easy on the ears, but just interesting enough to make you lose your train of thought in the middle of a conversation.

After The Metric’s set, I went outside for a smoke and had the pleasure of meeting Adam from The Manhattan Loves Suicide.

They win my best new friend award. I got the opportunity to speak to the rest of the band over the course of the night, and that is why I “waste” all my time pursuing musical endeavors…Its all about the music, but its all about the amazing people making the music as well.

The Manhattan Loves Suicide reminded me at first of Bow Wow Wow, and not that cheesy (and I do love cheese) I want candy shite. I find now that I am quite enamored with the band on all those physical levels my therapist’s wants to talk about next week. They have and album out and you should throw up the £7.00 and listen.

The Manhattan Loves Suicide is hanging around the north east for the weekend, and I suggest checking them out if you’re in the area

I’ll never not like them; I don’t know what it is…I can sit here and name a thousand bands new and old that sound like The Changes, but there would be something lost in the translation. It would be less then worthy of me to say that they did an amazing job, but they did, so to quote lead singer Darren, “The Changes, FUCK YEAH!”

The final band of the night was the Real Ones.

I never heard of them before this night, and if I didn’t say hello after the show, or have inter web capabilities…I would have assumed that they were from the highlands minus the Scotts accents. A five piece multi-instrumental band from Norway that basically captivated the audience for their entire set…of course we all demanded an encore...and of course we got it.

Real Ones have one more show tonight at Bowery Ballroom (03/23) before heading back across the Atlantic.

That’s it, my first real post…It works on so many levels no one will ever understand.

There are less than 6 hours left until spring, and I guess that is a good enough reason as any to write my first post on this blog. So I thought I would start off with something simple…Okay something lame.

Hi, my name is Sean and I am a 25 year old who just recently moved to Brooklyn. I am the bassist in a band that is located just outside Philadelphia. Most of my free time is taken up by music related things (reading other music blogs, reading and writing emails to people, going to shows/playing shows, “networking”, etc). So I decided, on a few occasions, to start a blog. I know I’m some what behind on the whole ‘I’m a blogger thing, but what does it really matter. This is just a place for me to voice my opinion, just like everyone else. I don’t foresee this becoming a huge deal. I probably won’t be writing here everyday. And I don’t think anything I may write will interest anyone, but who am I to be such a pessimist. So with out further ado…Welcome to My Buzzed Recollection!

I feel like I should put up some mp3s or something, but I am not that prepared, (don’t want no RIAA on my ass just yet)…I guess you could go HERE and get some songs from my band…I think I can do that for now.
